The Bay View Legacy
1923
Bay View Packing was formed by William Liebner, Walter Liebner and Bruno Liebner at 1218 Chestnut Street.
1940
Moved company to Cherry Street location.
1948
Byron Liebner and Robert Armstrong join Bruno Liebner to run Bay View Packing.
1955
Byron Liebner assumes control of Bay View Packing.
1976
Bay View Packing moved to 1906 W. St Paul Avenue.
1978
USDA inspected facility.
1984
Byron Liebner retires after 40 years of service.
1986
Reinhard Liebner joins the company.
1990
At age 26, Reinhard Liebner is elected President of Bay View.
1999
Reinhard Liebner purchased Bay View Packing Company and became sole owner.
2003
Bay View Packing began selling products via e-commerce through WisconsinMade.
2012
Eric Liebner, Reinhard’s second son, is elected to the Board of Directors. Relaunched a new and improved skinless, pickled bologna.
2016
Bay View Packing invests in more automation equipment including a fully automatic jar labeling machine, pickle brine filling, motorized conveyors for moving jars, and a cap tightening machine.
2013
Andrew Liebner, Reinhard’s youngest son, is elected to the Board of Directors.
2017
Further investments are made into a case taping machine to alleviate gluing each case by hand, a pallet shrink wrapper, and an ink jet date coder to print the date code directly on the jar.
2018
With customer concerns growing regarding tamper evidence on our jars, we make the switch from glass jars to FDA-approved, PET plastic jars. This would allow us to have a tamper evident induction seal on each jar providing consumers with food safety confidence.
2020
Reinhard begins shifting into semi-retirement for Eric and Andrew to begin taking more control.
2021
Bradley Liebner, Reinhard’s oldest son, is elected to the Board of Directors.
2022
With grab & go convenience items growing in popularity, we invest in a vacuum sealing machine to produce our very first single-serve products.
2023
We celebrate our 100 Year Anniversary! After 34 years serving as President and 25 years as Owner, Reinhard Liebner, the third generation of Bay View Packing Company and fourth generation pickler, resigns and sells his shares to his three sons, Bradley, Eric, and Andrew. Andrew steps in as President at 28 years old sharing equal ownership with Bradley and Eric.
2024
We invest in improving our capping and labeling equipment to more than double our production capacity.
2025 & Beyond
We continue to be independently family-owned and operated. This allows us to continue to invest back into to the business to constantly improve quality, consistency, food safety and sanitation, employee safety, and maintain fair pricing to deliver maximum value to our loyal customers.
